The Eoladi Experience
by Lennier

Part Nine

GC 426.0 Come to the Arakus Sector

Come Settle the Arakus Sector

Tired of the overcrowding and limited family sizes of the core sector? Want to be able to step outside without the aid of your own gravity generator? Thanks to our long lost brothers on Arakus VI, a new home is just a short hop away through thirdspace. Large tracts of gasses are available for Eolodi in Arakus II; Niru II and III have great areas for Alkari to soar; Arakus V, Khumba II, and Niru IV are perfect for Klackon breeding grounds; Khumba III is ideal for Meklar efficiency. Sakkara can explore the abandoned colony on Khumba I while raising their children. Audrieh can let their leaves spread wide on Seki I. Profits are there for the taking for Gnolam willing to seize control of Arakus IV. Want to improve another species? The fungal Phaigour want to join our empire; we only need willing colonists to show them the way. So why wait? There's never been a better time to move!

Not responsible for loss of life or property by the actions of large hostile animals or rapid rot brought on by planetary environment. No Ithkul Need Apply.

GC 429.0 Change of Leadership
The races of the Orion section had two questions about the Orion Senate for hundreds of cycles:

1) Why would the New Orions set up a political system that virtually guaranteed their eventual fall from power?

2) When that time came, would they step aside quietly or would they try to destroy the system they had set up?

Since the announcement of the last election's results, the answer to the second question seemed to be "step aside quietly." Not that the New Orions ever deviated from their philosophy of "actions speak louder than words." The Sergeant-At-Arms of the Senate (a New Orion, of course) had sent a terse list of directions for the ceremony to make the transition of power official. It was the only official message between the two empires in centuries. Actually, it was the only message sent by the New Orions to the Lennieradi. Emperor Lennieroi IV waited in the antechamber for the ceremony to begin. As he reviewed his acceptance speech on his data pad, the new President thought back on his people's accomplishments and contemplated the future. The Sangnnro and Pcharao Empires had surrendered as soon as the news of the election hit. After some time computing the odds, even the SL-071-CYYL surrendered. Pama and Saeir were literally begging to join the Senate. It shouldn't be long before Warotza bows to the inevitable a nd the Orion sector is unified. Then-well, Lennieroi's speech will give plans for expanding beyond the Orion sector, perhaps to those areas the various expeditions were searching for answers to the disappearance of the Antarans. His speech would also go on to state a unified sector would gain untold heights of scientific progress. Etc., etc. For what he was sure historians would call the crowning achievement of his reign (pun intended), it seemed something of a letdown.

The Sergeant-At-Arms entered the antechamber and motioned Lennieradi to follow him. The eyes of the sector were on him as he approached the Presidential podium. The ceremony was as verbose as one would expect from the New Orions. President Yeier'll'chk stepped down from the podium to become former President Yeier'll'chk. Lennieroi stepped onto the podium as Yeier'll'chk slowly walked down the isle of the Senate chamber. The next step in the protocol was for President Lennieroi to give his speech. Well, the directions at this point said "speak," but the implication was clear.

As Lennieroi brought up his data pad, Yeier'll'chk stopped, turned, and spoke.

"You have proven to be the strongest and are now Leader of the Orion races. But be forewarned: There are others in the Galaxy who would challenge you. Greater contests await one who would keep the title 'Master.'"
