Dx Malfunction Seeking help or hookers, please help or bring hookers

Hm, my first post here, played the game and have (albiet poorly) attempted to mod it through-out the years,usually resulting in a complete mother board burnout or desctruction of my bus channels (not a believer in too much is enough).
All bs to the side, here's my prob, I recently installed moo 3 on my system, its a new comp I now use for things like this, never installed or modded it on the comp, went to load up and encountered a strange prob which I believe is dirrect x related.
I click on the solar system interface and bring up the planets, and cannot back out, not to mention the sun also vanishes, in short if I have 5 systems I can choose to control 1 per turn, interface is still possible at the empire level, but I can never return to the galatic map.

I run vista, and to the date have caused the death of well over 100+ comps (again never too much) and never quite encountered this problem, I had encountered the classical combat screen crash in the past on an xp based system but easily resolved it, I don't often ask for help, but does anyone have a clue?

though I realise this site is slower than it used to be, I thought I'd update my findings, it seems to me the background refuses to refresh in totality, if anyone reads this, anytime soon, please dirrect me towards someone who can help, thanks.

Problem solved, for whatever reason the dx version 9.(?) was servely corrupted, reinstallation fixed the issue, never ceases to amaze me how something small you over look can crash your whole operation.
