Like many/most I stick with the standard 1 government DEA / planet.

Recently I started to wonder if this could be a strategic error on my part, since they add a % to every and all production on a planet, and started to do some tests, since there is little to none research on this topic available.

Here are some of my preliminary test-results.
first some notes/parameters for my test:
- I am between the 100-200 turns with my customized Imsaez race and around lvl 30 tech.
- test world : size 12 planet/sweet spot/my race exclusive/ all improvements built
- I did not allow any new improvements to be built so I could make a clear comparison before/after
- the planet has/had 22 industry dea's / 1 Gov DEA and 1 recreational DEA (it's one of my main manifacturing centers)
- I built the new GOV DEA's replacing Industry DEA's and outfitted them all with every improvement for government DEA's the original one had
QUOTE

Starting situation : 1 DEA / turn "0"
pop 128 / 171
Dea prod from pop : 120%
Industry 11589   (481)

GDP 297.1k
Tax 133.2k
Trade 12967

government dea (1) : 27%

2dea's
pop 129/171
Dea prod from pop :122 %
Industry 12796 (551)  +1 turn
Tax 167.2
Trade 13526
Government DEA 20% (*2)

3dea's:
pop 130/171
Dea prod from pop : 120%
Industry 13526
GDP 347.1k
Tax
Trade13658
Government DEA 18% (*3)

4dea's
pop 130/171
Dea prod from pop :121 %
Industry 13933 (673)  +1 turn 13762
Tax 234.5
Trade 13768
Government DEA 15% (*4)

So my (preliminary) results show that having more than one Gov DEA on huge/big planets seems to be a good idea, increasing both your manifacturing (Industry/recources/research) but also your GDP and thus tax-revenue.
The main negative side-effect is a lowered DEA production from population, since they seem to use up a lot of population/employment.

A side note on this last point: the gain in production did not seem affected by adding or not building the DEA improvements, but the tax-income/gdp was.

I'd like to do some more research on this and find an optimal gov DEA to other DEA's ratio (esp for industrial planets). Of-course any help on this is more than welcome.[B][U]

bhruic spy fix makes any effect start/end 1 round layter then whit out it

p.s.
this study was don in the old atari forum
the cunclosen was do it on large industry worlds

Really?

I have been looking around there and other sites for some concrete info/tips to decide the optimal amount of Gov DEA's for a given planet-size or amount of DEA's but with not much luck.

I noticed you said you use Rec DEA's...are they really worth it? I have only ever built them on conquered worlds(I rarely conquer except for home world systems, or cousin race)

Really?

Do you still have access to the Original Atari MoOIII forums?

Or are you trying to get ideas from the new one? The new one is pretty bare.

I tried hard to port as much from the original to the 2nd one but can't gain access to the New Atari MoOIII forum. Really stinks what Atari did to the original and then to the 2nd one too!

The MoOIII game has a .txt file that show the diminsihing returns for Gov't and other DEAs. After 7 it's a total wash. The best usage for multiple Gov't DEAs was on huge low mineral world that you make into Industry power houses with a 2nd subset as a research world. On these planets don't really use more than 3 Gov't DEAs. You can use a 4th but it's generally better to use that slot for industry or research.

I will place a Rec DEA if the region has a Good resource for it. But only rarely will I ever put 2 on the same planet. And I do not place Rec Deas in every system either. There are factors for effects of this type Dea, planet, system and adjacent system. So placement is dependent upon a good resource and close neighboring system will receive some benefit from it too.
